Associate Professor Robyn Whittaker and Dr Rosie Dobson, along with colleagues Dr Judith McCool (University of Auckland), Dr Chris Paton (University of Oxford) and Dr Smisha Agarwal (Johns Hopkins), ran a satellite session at the recent CUGH conference in Chicago.
The session on 'Assessing the Impact of mHealth in Low Resource Settings' presented a series of case studies where mHealth programs have been implemented to support shifts in risk factors for health from low resource settings around the world including Africa, the Pacific and India. The session looked at how we can extend the reach and impact of mHealth programs across populations, and how can we determine whether these interventions are effective. The facilitated discussion covered recommendations on the options for assessing the impact of mHealth programs in low resourced settings.
