Welcome to new staff - Sharon Tang, Maria Maiquez and Katie Tomkins

We are thrilled to welcome Maria Maiquez and Katie Tomkins as Project Coordinators and Sharon Tang as a Project Support Assistant to the NIHI whānau!

Maria has a keen interest in public health nutrition and food and is looking forward to being part of the team and working together to help improve people’s health and wellbeing. With previous experience working on the NutriSales Data Collection in 2021, Maria will be working on our Nutrition-related projects - DIET, NutriSales and Nutrition Survey.

Katie has a science and psychology background and is currently studying part time to become a Health Psychologist. She is passionate about helping people achieve their health goals and strongly believe that the research conducted at NIHI has a huge potential to positively impact population health. Katie will be focusing on the  - Developing and Testing Warning Labels to Reduce Alcohol Purchase (WARNING!) project.

Sharon is passionate to learn more about the human condition and is hoping to become a Psychologist in the future. Sharon will be helping out on the  - Cytisine and E-cigarettes Study with Supportive Text-messaging (CESS@Tion) project as a Project Support Assistant, and is looking forward to meeting everyone and making a small difference in the world through this project!
